Congratulations to the Mercury Cup Mixed team for winning away at Gynsill on Saturday 9th. This means the club progress into the next round which is against a very strong club in Carisbrooke LTC.
The match is going to be played at Home on Saturday May 23rd, 2pm start. This happens to fall on the same day as the Bar Opening and Quiz night...which surely means an all day bar and food available for the supporters to enjoy while watching some great tennis!
The 2014/2015 membership ends at 10pm tomorrow night. If you have not paid your membership you must not come to play on the courts until you have renewed with the treasurer. The court lock code will soon be changing and 2015 members will be issued with this.
WIMBLEDON BALLOT DRAW, TOURNAMENT AND BBQ
This years Wimbledon ballot draw will take place on Sunday 10th May. There is a social doubles tournament so please sign up on the sheet situated on the notice board if you would like to play. 11am start, £6 entry which includes a BBQ at 1pm. The Wimbledon draw will take place at 3pm.
MONDAY 30TH MARCH 6PM ONWARDS
Come to the club on Monday 30th March to pay the discounted rate for membership, and also play in an organised social doubles tournament from 6pm onwards.

The A.G.M. of the Club will be held in the Clubhouse on Monday 26th January 2015 at 7.30 p.m. All members are invited to attend and join in the discussion, but only full members are entitled to vote.
Please find attached a copy of the letter inviting you to the meeting, the minutes of the last A.G.M. and a copy of the proposed changes to the subscriptions. Unfortunately the accounts are not available at present but copies will be available at the meeting.
To be eligible for the 2015 BTM Wimbledon Ballot you will need to opt in by 14th February 2015. To opt in is easy and you can do this by logging into the members area on the British Tennis website. For ease I have included the following link which should take you directly to the log in page on their website:- https://www2.lta.org.uk/Login/
As our clubs ticket allocation will be based on the number of members who have opted in we are asking that even if you do not necessary want tickets next year you still opt in as this will increase the chances of others members interested in attending the Championships being offered tickets.

Tonight we have the start of adult beginners tennis coaching. Members and non members welcome. Learn all strokes, tactics and rules of the game. £5 a session pay as you go. If you cannot make each week there's no need to worry, you will still pick the game up fast.

Our version of the Australian Open Doubles Tournament (better standard) is now being held on Sunday 8th February 11am. BBQ food to follow play because we are athletes! On Saturday 27th December we are holding a Christmas Tournament at Syston Northfields Tennis Club. This is a members only event and will begin at 11am. Only doubles will be played but you just need to enter as an individual as pairs will be drawn.
When the tennis is over we hope everybody will stay for food and drink. We ask if you could bring any left over Christmas food with you to share out and use as a buffet. A sign up sheet will soon be in the clubhouse. You can also reply by responding to this email or contact myself on 07800 599057.

This years Eddie Gamble tournament raised £128 for Parkinson's charity. Thank you to all that played in the annual tournament where entry fees went to the charity and those of you that donated without playing. A big thank you to Lee Stock for sorting the food.

Finals day is fast approaching. Some have already made it into a final and others have semi finals still to play. On Saturday 30th we are looking to create a great atmosphere at the club throughout the day.
The Junior events will be played from 9am in the morning. This will feature players from the age of 4-16 years.
The ladies singles will be the first adults final on Saturday. The start time for this is 12:30pm. Following on from that we have the mens singles final between Edd Whetton and James Stock, as well as the mens singles plate final. Other finals that will be played during the afternoon are:

There will be a BBQ starting at 12pm, food will be served throughout the afternoon and evening. The bar will be open all day and night....

We have 39 adult entries in this years club tournament and many junior entries. The tournament is running from Saturday 23rd (tomorrow) to Saturday 30th August.
Everyone participating on Saturday, Monday or Tuesday should now have heard from Edd and have their start times. Please try and arrive 15 minutes before you are due to start.
Come down and watch even if you are not playing is I guarantee there is going to be some great Tennis on display. Food is available each night at a small fee of £2, so come from work and enjoy an evening of Tennis.

On Sunday 29th June we held an open day at the club. This is where players could come down between 11am and 2pm and attend coaching or play with friends and family for free. It was none stop during the 3 hours with people arriving continuously throughout.
Due to the great experience given by our club members (and some none members) we have gained new members and players for coaching. I would like to say a big thank you to Lee Stock, James Stock, Victoria Willson, Emily Markley, James Whetton and Jeff Whetton for all the help on the day, as well as many others who helped to advertise the event before and on the day.

Today is the day we are opening up our courts and facilities for free. Come and visit us between 11am and 2pm. We have coaching sessions running for all ages and abilities, or you can book a slot on a court and have a free play session with your family and friends.

We have membership at half price which can be paid for in person or online for today only.
We have 2 social events coming up in June. The first is a French Open Doubles tournament following on from the success of the Australian Open tournament we did in January. It will be held on Saturday June 7th and partners will be drawn out by Edd to make the tournament as even as possible. Play will commence at 3pm, with food being provided after the Final.
The second is a wine tasting evening on Saturday June 14th. Food will also be provided for this event. England are playing at 11pm on this night, so if you would like to stay on the bar will be open until late and a big screen will be placed in the clubhouse for the match.
We are now holding a social doubles tournament on the first Monday of every month. Food will be provided at each of these and play will commence at 6:00pm. The cost of entry is £4 per person to cover the cost of food and balls.
